TPDC, Dangote agree the sale of natural gas

Organization of Tanzania Petroleum Development (TPDC) has reached an agreement with the company Dangote Group of Industries on the sale price of natural gas for the use of its cement factory located in Mtwara.

Speaking to journalists in Dar yesterday, Acting CEO of TPDC, Kapulya Musomba said the agreement is about connecting infrastructure to transport natural gas from a large pipe to a factory there and complete a preliminary agreement for the sale of gas for use in the factory .

He said the agreement is the implementation of the mandate of President John Magufuli. Last December, President Magufuli met with the owner of the factory, Aliko Dangote in here wanted him to buy gas directly from TPDC instead of using medium-minded people to make a personal profit.

Representative of the company Dangote, Sada Ladan-Baki said the cost of connecting the pipeline to the factory zitabebwa by the company and not the government of Tanzania.

"Construction of the pipeline one's on us, beginning to end, and we will begin construction next month, '' he said.

He thanked President Magufuli to allow them to buy gas in the country, saying such action would provide jobs for most people.
