Lungu Retracts Trade companion ..... More Effective Ataka Port of Dar es Salaam

President of Zambia, Edgar Lungu has urged officials of his country and Tanzania, to put politics aside and focus on the business zitakazoinua economy of the two countries.

Speaking yesterday in Dar es Salaam at the conclusion of his tour of three days, Lungu, who visited Tanzania Ports Authority (TPA) and the Shipping and Receiving Loads of Zambia (Zamcargo), said despite the honor the contribution of the founders of the nations, Teacher Julius Nyerere and Kenneth Kaunda, will focus more on the business.

 "The challenge you have is you and the Board of TPA leadership for the people of East Africa or even outside Africa. The people of Zambia said the duration of politics is over, now is the time of development. Hatutawaunga hand because I am very close to President (John) Magufuli. It is true, I am close to President Magufuli if you did not know, but we do not support them because of that, but for your efficiency, "said Lungu.

Zamcargo While in office, President Lungu reiterated his call for effective business and said he would not hesitate to hold accountable executives of the institution.

Earlier, Director General of the TPA, Deusdedit Kakoko said Zambia has become the number one customer in the transportation of cargo through the port of Dar es Salaam.

Kakoko said in 2014, Zambia accounted for 36 percent of the cargo which is equivalent to 5.2 million tons as far eight countries that use the port.

"Statistics show that TPA loads of Zambia experiencing here has been going on every year. In 2011, the port received 1.6 million tons of cargo originating from entering. But in 2014 Zambia received 1.9 million tons of cargo to Zambia, "said Kakoko.

He said due to the urgency, the leadership of the TPA has been improving the service to work effectively.

"For example, the time to deliver the cargo at the port has been reduced to eleven days last October were comparing to 32 days in 2008. The Port has also improved freight payment system for its customers to use the electronic system," said Kakoko.

In a visit to the port, Lungu was accompanied by Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Regional Integration, Ambassador Augustine Mahiga, the Deputy Minister of Works, Transport and Communication, Edwin Ngonyani and secretary general of the ministry, Dr. Leonard Chamuriho.

Once the visit President Magufuli he led other government officials escorting his guest the airport and return to Zambia.

Other leaders who arrived at the airport is Vice President, Solution Samia Hassan, Prime Minister Kassim Fate and other officials. Lungu left at the airport at 7: 40 noon.
